In 1821, the Greeks decided to cross the Rubicon and gain their freedom from the Turks. After many obstacles, disunity, blood and toil, they succeeded it. Almost a century later, the British Winston Churchill stated that the nations who submit never rise again, where the ones who fall during fight, one day they regain their freedom.

1 Ελλάς Ευγνωμονούσα
Artwork of Theodoros Vryzakis created in 1858. This is a work with special symbolism, since it depicts Greece in the form of a young crowned woman, dressed in ancient greek way, to have broken the chains of slavery from her feet, in the midst of fighters of the Greek Revolution of 1821. At the same time, she has her hands outstretched, in a symbolic movement of embracing the heroes and all the Greeks, who led, with their struggles and sacrifices, to the liberation and the establishment of the independent Greek state.
In the same context, the verses how much is missing, do consider, how much more to be taken, always victory, if you unite, will always follow you, come from the Hymn to Freedom of Dionysios Solomos (v. 597-600), which was written in 1823 in Zakynthos and was printed a year later in Messolonghi. We consider that these verses make a perfect match with the artwork, as they highlight that only when the Greeks are in peace among them, only then do conquer the victory, which can lead them to the desired freedom..
