A characteristic feature is that it places man at the center of interest, with all his passions, weaknesses and ultimately his uniqueness. το τίμημα της ελευθερίας
ως ουδέν μείζον εστίν ανθρώποις Έλλησιν της ελευθερίας / the phrase comes from a resolution of the citizens of Priene (3rd c. BC), ancient Ionian city of Asia Minor, which states that for Greeks the most important value is freedom. The depiction is the Frankish tower on the Acropolis of Athens, with debris from the Parthenon. The tower was built by the Farnkish Dukes of Athens in 13th-14th c., and demolished in 1874 with initiative of Heinrich Schliemann. Aegina can be seen in the background
